Fat transfer

16 June 2015

Hello dr. Pataki,

I have heard back form Manka, my friend and she is curious about what the Premium plastic surgery clinic suggested, the fat grafting. Please find her questions below:

Is it the same than fat injections ? How is that procedure? What area they take it from? What is the suggested recovery time?

I have notice that my upper lip is going downward. Could injecting a little bit of fat in my cheeks lift my smile?

Could I have this done this summer on it's own?

I thought to fill the lines on my forehead also, perhaps the same method would work?

And, could she have an appointment for the last week of July for a consultation?

thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Melanie

‎Dear Melanie,

Please see the answers below and forward it to Mrs. Manka.

Thank you.

Is it the same than fat injections ?

Yes. The scientific name is autologous microstructural fat grafting or microlipoinjection.

How is that procedure?

Microlipoinjection , also called autologous fat transfer, is a procedure in which an individual’s own body fat is used to plump up sunken or emaciated areas of the face or to add volume where desired. The word “autologous” simply refers to the use of one’s own tissues or fat. Because the patient’s own fat is used, autologous fat transfer requires three steps. The first step involves the gentle liposuction of some excess fat (such as that found in the jowls, abdomen, thighs, or buttocks). The second step involves the isolation and cleansing of the fat cells. The third and final step involves the injection of the fat cells into the targeted facial areas (i.e., the fat cell transplantation).

What area they take it from?

One of the benefits of fat transfer is that it can address two problems at once. The fat for the injections may be taken from any spot on the body that contains a concentration of excess fatty tissue. The patient and the doctor will work together to decide which areas of the body are eligible, and which the patient would most like to see reduced. Belly, Thighs, waist are common areas that come into consideration.

What is the suggested recovery time?

1-2 weeks.

I have notice that my upper lip is going downward. Could injecting a little bit of fat in my cheeks lift my smile?

Yes. That is also one of the puroposes of fat grafting to different areas of the face.

Could I have this done this summer on it’s own?

Yes it is possible.

What would be the cost?

The suggested microstructural fat grafting is 3500‎ if it is done separately.

I thought to fill the lines on my forehead also, perhaps the same method would work?

The facial areas that can be improved with fat injection treatment include creases in the forehead or in between the eyebrows, and hollows under the eyes.

And, could she have an appointment for the last week of July for a consultation?

All consultation possibilities are reserved, but if she transferes the amount for the consultation, we will rearrange our plan and organize the consultation for her.
